Joannes Designs Week42 'I'm A Star' a lap quilt designed to be made from four coordinating fabrics. I have used red, pink, green and blue. I have designed this quilt to be made from any line of fabric that has a range of coordinating fabrics both in plain and patterns. Alternatively this would be a great quilt to make from your stash! I love to use up that ever increasing stash!
The Dazzling Star block has been made using the nine patch block and there are several ways to make this block. I have added 3 different ways below. You may find it easiest to use a combination of them. For example; the star points would be best done using the foundation pattern and the other 5 squares can be made using the rotary cutting guide. If you like to hand piece your blocks then I have added a template pattern for you.
Each Dazzling Star block in the quilt is made 9" x 9" finished. There are 16 Dazzling Star blocks. The border is made from strips cut 3 1/2" wide, finishing 3" wide. |

This is a very simple quilt to make. Foundation piecing will make the sharpest and most accurate looking blocks for this quilt but if you are like me you prefer not to have to remove all those paper pieces at the end then have a look at the two suggestions below!
1. Visit 'the twiddletails store' website for a tutorial on how to Freezer Paper Foundation Piecing without sewing on the paper!
2. Buy foundation piecing paper that can be removed from your blocks by soaking in water! I have been told about this product by friends in my quilting group but I haven't used any myself. You will need to visit your local quilt store to find out what this is called and how to use it.
I hope you enjoyed Joannes Designs Week42. Just 10 patterns to go!
